Dining Room Restoration
With your help, the Friends are embarking on a major project to bring the Dining Room back to its elegance.
In 2018, along with your contributions, the Friends were awarded a $48,000 grant from NY State Parks & Trails, allowing us to start the restoration of the beautiful silk draperies in the dining room. In February 2019, the final strike-off of the cut velvet silk fabric colors was approved by our museum curator and Lee-Jofa in Manhattan is manufacturing the yardage. Next, the draperies will be made by the Peebles Island conservators.
We are out to bid on painting the flat ceiling. We anticipate both of these 2 projects to be complete by the end of summer 2019.
The next part of the project is raising funds for the specialized restoration of the gilded ceiling, faux marble and Italian marble on the walls.
